A foundational exploration of point, line, and plane through everyday objects, textures, and letterforms.
For the Design Fundamentals Study, the goal was to experiment with point, line, and plane, and how they could be used to create hierarchy, balance, symmetry, and unity. The project began under stricter conditions, then gained more freedom over time, eventually opening up to scale, axis, and composition.
Throughout each stage, the task was to think more strategically about the structure and layout of each composition, using scale and placement to strengthen the design. In the end, point, line, and plane were combined into one complete composition, swapping some elements for text and others for images to create a final, balanced piece.
Two letterforms are combined and cropped tightly to test negative space, scale, and axis, refining a rough combination down to one balanced mark.
